ViewCast
has diligently been working on the release of Vista
drivers for all Osprey products. The drivers are now
suitable for field trial. Here’s the good part: The
recently-released WHQL drivers for all current Osprey cards are already
Vista compatible. Yep, you read correctly. That's what ViewCast tells
us. HOWEVER, the current drivers have not yet passed
ViewCast QA as “Vista Tested”. ViewCast will notify us of
successful completion of Vista testing with an official Vista support announcement in the near future.
In
the mean time, all Vista clients may TRY the current driver
in Vista machines. Consider this
a public beta test. Make sure you have the current driver.

Choose the XP driver for your model Osprey card. Send Paradise
your feedback and we'll consolidate for ViewCast. Remember, this
is considered a BETA test!

will NOT support any requests for Vista driver
support until there is an official Vista
support statement released

ViewCast uses on the driver property pages to identify multiple
cards in the same machine receive concatenations from Vista that
currently cause them to overflow standard combo boxes

ViewCast Engineering Bulletin
ViewCast
released an urgent engineering Bulletin regarding systems with imbedded
OS and use of the Real Networks codec in Save To File
configuration. Systems affected include Niagara Pro, GoStream and
GoStream Plus. If you are using these systems and Real Networks
Save To File functions, contact Paradise immediately.
In
anticipation of the upcoming IBC show, Broadcast Engineering magazine reviewed two
ViewCast products. To read the reviews, click on the
product: GoStream Plus or SCX.
We are often asked about Windows 64-bit support for Osprey
cards. The ViewCast response is, "With very few exceptions,
there are no performance gains in using 64-bit drivers in the
applications for which Osprey cards are typically deployed."
This has been demonstrated in ViewCast's own labs and noted on various
industry-related forums, blogs and even competitor websites.
Therefore, ViewCast has no near-term plans for 64-bit drivers. To
read Microsoft's position on 64-bit OS and their own Windows Media

There has
been a slight change to the Niagara
product line. The remaining Niagara
4xxx models have been discontinued due to parts shortage. The
Niagara 4112 and 4116 were replaced by the Niagara
6112 and 6116 respectively. Details can be found on the Niagara
